Kit Smythe (born circa 1941) is an American Broadway and television actress.

Career

Kit Smythe's first acting job was when she was noticed by Sherwood Schwartz, and assigned to play the role of "Ginger" in the pilot episode of Gilligan's Island.[1] Smythe's character of Ginger was a secretary, as was another character "Bunny" played by Nancy McCarthy. After Gilligan's Island 's pilot, Smythe was denied to continue with the series, and was instead replaced by Tina Louise who plays Ginger Grant, who then became a Hollywood motion picture star.

She would go on to appear in TV series like Bewitched (1964), The Farmer's Daughter (1965), Burke's Law (1965), and Gunsmoke (1966). Smythe's final acting performance was in an episode of, Police Woman, in 1976.

As of 2005, Smythe was still performing as a showgirl in The Fabulous Palm Springs Follies.[2]
